HP Enters Commercial Touchscreen Market

The Wall Street Journal reported on HP’s new emphasis on the commercial touchscreen market. A research firm reports that HP sold 400,000 touchscreen units last year as they try to find more profitable markets outside their desktop/laptop PC dominance. HP’s device retails for more than twice the price of an average desktop computer.

The article reports that IBM, Dell and Asusteck are also fighting for a piece of the market. If IBM bailed when the PC industry became too cut-throat, how long until the touchscreen PC market loses the current profit margins?
